I had the same issue with Testor's Dullcoat whereby some bottles of it just would not give me a flat finish.  I switched to using Future acrylic floor finish + Tamiya X-21 Flat Base.  I mix at a ratio of 4 parts Future to 1 part flat base.  I have been pretty happy with the results.  A lot of people have also had success with PollyScale's flat.

Personally I'd go with a different brand, or make my own matt finish using Future floor polish and Tamiya Flat Base.

Works well for me, and gives me total control over how the final finish will appear.

This week had to get some new humbrol varnish matt (No49 two tins) now every time i varnish to give my figures they come out satin  or gloss finish.

I have mixed both tins well but to top this even Vallejo matt varnish is giv`in me a satin finish?. Can anyone help as this is the 4th time i`ve had to strip the figures down.

Many thanks AlanBanged Head [banghead]
