If it hasn't been on for too long you could just buff it off and repaint. If it's been on for a while you might have to take that and the paint off. I would try using windex first though.

See Swanny's The Complete Future! for ratios on varying flat finishes using future.

If windex doesn't work, try straight ammonia (the ingredient that makes windex work on acrylics). It will be a little more powerful. Once you get most of it off, hit it with a coat of gloss. That should do it.

I did the same thing, I just didn't thin mine enough. Hit it with a gloss coat, then re-do your Flat after you experiment to get the right mix.

tamiya flat- help me I've made snow
Posted by richgb on Friday, January 20, 2006 6:18 PM

Hi there,

I've just come back to modelling after a long gap and have just tried to apply a coat of Tamiya flat on my huey hog. Now I've used humbrol matt varnish straight from the tin and assumed that you could do the same with Tamiya flat.......I was wrong. Luckily I started on the underside of the model and very soon realised I had a problem on my hands. My question is, is there a way of removing this " winter camouflage scheme" from my Huey? Can I wipe it off with white spirits etc or is the best way to try and paint over it. I'd be most grateful of any help.

Hindsight is a wonderful gift. It's a pity I don't posess it. On reading other threads on the forum and I must confess, the label on the bottle (after the event), it's now evident to use thinners and future ith the flat coat or can you use just future and flat (about 4:1 ratio)

thanks,    Rich
