Spray Booth Question--Which One??

Rory - I picked up the Paasche one (via Ebay - the hobby spray booth or whatever it's called) a couple of months ago and I have been very happy with it.  I picked it because it is a reasonable deal (just less than 200 bones delivered to my door) and it's very large (2x2x1.5 feet) compared to most hobby booths.  Easy to assemble, made of steel, and collapses and portable which is also nice if needed.  Comes standard with 4" standard dryer vent out as well.  The only downside is 1) it is not switched, so you'll have to plug it into a switched power strip or something, and 2) no built in light - but I went to home depot and remedied this pretty cheaply.  The top of the booth has ample room to install a light.  I contemplated building a booth myself, but I knew that the time that I would spend on the project would be substantial: which fan to purchase, etc.  The Paasche appeared to be the best deal in my opinion.  I love the thing.  Drop a line if you have any further questions.  Happy painting

Check out the thread one or two up from this one.  I highly suggest you check out the Pace spraybooths by Pace industries.  Aprox 1 year or so ago I was in the market and checked them all out at the time.  Was gonna get the artograph until I saw the Pace.  A little on the pricey side but worth every penny.  Pace sells several models/sizes but the delux one is the biggest out there at about 30 inches wide.  Has built in light. variable speed fan, several switched outlets and best of all, an extended work table that clips on the front of the booth.  This is the one feature that I like most.  I have mine vented out a basement window and never get any fumes inside my house.  Like I said, this might set you back about $400.00 or so but worth every penny.  The artograph I was gonna buy was in the $300.00 range and the filters were very, very expensive.  The Pace uses standard furnace filters.  You could certainly build one yourself cheaper but I just don't have the time for that.

I am sufficiently intrigued, thanks...but where online do you find Pace Spray Booths?  What is the best website?  I looked up "Pace Industries.com", but it was mostly technical/commercial, not really oriented to the consumer.  Thanks!

I just ordered the big Pace Peace Keeper.  My daughter and I think they named it the Peace Keeper because it will keep my lovely wife from getting all fired up about me spraying in the house.  LOL

You can't order online, but they do have a 1-800 number.  Very nice gentleman took my order over the phone, it should be on my front porch Monday or Tuesday of next week.

My new Pace Peace Keeper arrived yesterday, and I must say it's very, very nice.  I'm picking up the vent and ducting so I can make a unit that I can pop in and out of the window.  Hopefully I'll be able to begin spraying tonight!  :)

Thanks, I do believe you've sold me on the Pace spray booth.  We just bought a new house, and I'm in the process of setting up the work area--the booth will be perfect!  Thanks for the info...

I also bought some of that heavy duty plastic shelving from Home Depot (36" wide, 24" deep).  I'll set up 3 shelves and put the Peace Keeper on top, should put it at just the right height.  Plus, now I'll have some more storage for my huge stash of kits.... oh, wait.... then my wife will know exactly how many unbuilt kits I have... hmmm, maybe I'd better rethink that.... LOL

I'm planning on trying it out tonight when I get home, I'll let you know how it does.  :)

Well, I tried the Pace Peacekeeper out this weekend and wow, it is fantastic!  It's huge!  Big enough to do anything I need to with it.  Two of the best features are the built in light and the two power outlets on the right hand side of the unit.  Both outleets are connected to switches on the front which makes it VERY convenient to turn on and off the compressor for my airbrush.   The fan is also variable speed.  I'm very impressed with it and am glad I got it.  It's a bit pricey, but this is definately one of those things that "you get what you pay for".

The new Badger spraybooth is also nice and you might want to check into it.
They have it in the new MicroMark catalog I just got also.

Glad you like your pace spraybooth.  You didn't say anything about the extended work table that attaches to the front.  Did yours come with one?  That is the one feature I like most about mine.

Absolutely, very nice.  All in all I'd have to say it's excellent.  It's nice having all that extra work area with the extension.  I have all kinds of stuff up there, everything I need while I'm airbrushing.  It was worth every penny.  :)
