Omni Dual Action airbrush
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 11:43 PM
I've been trolling the posts & looking at previous debates about using the Badger 360 vs the Omni 4000-6000 brushes.  But I see that there is an Omni with the rotational feature that the 360 has.  Are these out for sale & has anyone tried them?  Does the new feature essentially make the Omnis the better overall brush?  I'm looking to paint fine details on gaming miniatures using acrylics mostly (vallejo and citadel, but some testors oil base), and I like both the 360 and the Omnis.   The dual feed of the 360 could be useful and it seems that it is the easiest to break down & clean.  But the Omni has the reversible tip that alllows you to clean the tip pretty easily and I can see that coming in pretty handy.  I'm not sure which of the 2 will paint the finest lines and handle the widest types of paints, but I like the fact that both only use 1 needle (and one reason why I favor them over the Badger 100s).  The Badger site has a chart that suggests the 360 is better for hobbies than the Omnis but that chart is relaltively generic.  Anyone use the new Omni, or care to share any of the more recent experiences with any of these fine airbrushes?  Thanks.

I use an Omni 4000 and a Badger 100, having bought the Omni 4000 first.

The single head set up on the Omni sounds attractive, but in reality I've not found the Omni able to produce the same sort of results as the 100 with a fine head.

That's probably more down to my ineptitude than the ABs themselves, but if I did it all again I'd probably just buy a Badger 100 LG with the fine and medium heads and needles.

If you are only spraying small areas on gigures, then a gravity feed AB would make more sense than syphon feed, given the amounts of paint involved, and precision required.
