Drying time...

In my experience with oil-based paints, which I admit is very, very limited, they take FOREVER to cure.  I painted the avionics bay of an F-15 with some oil-based paint and it took a week to cure.  I didn't know how long it was going to take to cure so I sprayed some extra on a piece of scrap.  Rather than handling the actual parts I checked the piece of scrap from time to time.  After several days it still felt sticky and tacky.  It took an entire week until I felt comfortable enough to proceed.

Hey Anthony, I would give it at least 24 hours between gloss coat and paint and then another 24 hours to let the gloss coat cure prior to the oil wash.

Sorry to give you down time but I have suffered the fatal mistake of washing an acrylic gloss coat that wasn't properly cured.

Sometimes having nothing to do is a good thing.  Particularly if the alternative is fixing mistakes. Doh!

Generally, I'd give it a day.  If you're base paint is acrylic (or enamel clear coated with Future), you maybe could go less, particulary if you are painting in a warm, dry area.  The risk you run, by jumping the gun, is that the wash can lift the underlying paint.
