Painting Emblems?
Posted by Shirako on Wednesday, February 15, 2006 6:44 PM
Any tips on painting emblems on the outside and inside of cars? or smal items such as lettering?

I've tried a few techniques, all seem better for how accessible the emblem is.

  • Dry brush, slide the bristles sideways over the emblem.
  • Flat toothpicks (or cut craft sticks, tongue depressors), dab a thin layer of paint and gently lay it down on the emblem.
  • Use a 30/0 brush.
  • Paint the emblem first, then paint the surrounding area. If spraying the surrounding area, you can dab a small amount of vaseline to cover the emblem. When the paint dries you can wash it off.
  • Use an old dried out fine-tip marker, dip the tip into the paint and tap it on the emblem. Repeat until emblem is covered.
That's a few I can think of right now.
