Model assembled and painted... now what?

Once you paint the assembled model with a few coats of paint, what do you do? Just "slap" on the decals and you're done, or do you need to apply some other "finish" coat of some sort? thank you in advance.

Depending on what model your working on, I spray either a flat, satin or gloss clear coat over the entire model. This seals the paint and decals. Plus it helps level out the paint lines if there are any.

Thanks........

stang, spray a clear gloss where your decals are going to go or over the whole model if you want. This will keep your decals from silvering. Then another coat of gloss over the decals to blend them in then a dull coat if you want a flat finish. If you're going to weather it, do it before the dull coat.

Heh...key being coat the entire model. I just got finished applying future for the same purpose, I only applied it to the areas where the decals were going. It changed those areas ever so slightly even after applying the dullcoat over top. Important learning lesson for myself.
