Gabe,

Here are the images you requested. Everything you see in this rig except the airbrush, hose, and regulator was scrounged.

The line purge valve is just above the compressor. It exhausts into a baffle just behind the compressor made from a Chinese take-out compressor. Adjusting this valve to mostly open converts the storage tank to a stilling tank. The compressor runs from the foot switch. It takes about two minutes to fill the tank before the compressor stalls.

Once the compressor stalls, I close the valve on the tank head (This was scavenged from a fireman's air tank. You can build something similar from gas line parts—I did that for my son's set up.) I now have enough air for 15 to 20 minutes continuous spraying at 15 to 20 psi. without running the compressor. Opening the tank head valve all the way, and the purge valve almost all the way, I can airbrush continuously directly from the compressor.

Gabe,

Some welding supply places will rent a CO2 tank and gauges to you.
Call around and see.
I think that compressor would work much too hard trying to fill a 10 gallon air tank.

Gabe,

I'm a bit busy today, but I'll try to get it to you as soon as possible.

About the compressor. Well, the compressor will only reach it's maximum output level while trying to fill a tank. My guess is you wouldn't get enough usable pressure from it, at least not enough to spray for very long.

Getting an air tank cheap... check with your air or welding supply shops.
One welding shop where I first bought my oxygen/acetylene torch setup charged me to purchase the tanks outright. Now that I moved to NH, the new place wouldn't refill those tanks for me, ... anyway, they gave me new tanks filled with the gases (one oxygen, one acetylene) for "just the cost of the gas in them". When I need them refilled, I just swap them at their shop for cost of the gas every time. I think the oxygen last time I swapped was about $20 something last summer. Maybe you can find something like that?

Gabe,

I'm not familiar with that compressor, but see my next to last post in this thread. I use a half-size oxygen cyclinder retired from my old welding rig.

Talk to welding supply places. There are some odd regulations about cylinders, but you may be able to get one cheaper, that way. You  can just buy the tank, without a valve, and fit it yourself with piping from a hardware store. I'll send you a picture of my rig if you want.

Hey guys

I actually have two questions.

First, I have a Badger 180 compressor and was wondering if it would be possible to fill, say a 10gal tank with it regularly without it burning up, to cut down on the noise and pulsating. And would it be able to presurize the tank enough for it to be usefull.

Second, would anyone know where I could look to find a used gas cylinder for cheep. Thinking maybe to go the C02 way.

Thanks
Gabe
