OIF Armor Color in M1 Abrams
Posted by wes on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 8:05 PM

i have seen models in this forum depicting tanks and bradleys from the oif theate, what i want to ask is whats the proper ratio of tamiya acrylics that can be used in order to replicate color since tamiya paints are common here in the philippines (there's no model master, testor brand in here, Angry [:(!] ). ive tried mixing desert yellow, buff and drops of white tamiya acrylics but the result does not even come close.

thanks!

That's a real bummer, because Model Master's Sand (as opposed to their Armor Sand) is spot on for OIF AFVs.  Try posting your question in the Armor forum.  If you're forced to experiment, to my eye, the sand color is a bit pink, so maybe some drops of red might give the correct hue.

If GSI Creos (Gunze) "Aqueous Hobby Color" paints are available at your location, try H313 "Yellow" which is supposed to be an exact match for FS 33531.
