since the active component of Super Clean Degreaser used for stripping the paint is Sodium Metasilicate (Caustic Soda) why not use just that?
I get caustic soda in powder from from hardware shop and mix it with water before immersing the model to strip it. You have total control - you can add more or less caustic soda to male it more or less powerful.  I also use warm rather than cold water to aid the process. The only drawback is that you can only really use it for total stripdown.

That's odd Tom as it doesn't bother my skin so far but I do not stick my hand down into it either. Smile [:)]

It doesn't irritate it or anything Mike... it just got scaly feeling... even lotion didn't help much.. I just had to wait a few days for my natural oils to come back.  I thought picking them up with my fingers and rinsing would be ok.  Evidently I got enough on there long enough to decide gloves would be on my hands the next time I uesed it haha...

I hear you buddy, don't mess around with that stuff as I have read it will remove skin if left on there long enough.

Wulf - I've stripped poorly adhered lacquer off of plastic with it... and Alclad as well.  I had to let it sit for about 48 - 72 hours but it took 99%of it off... it really does work!  (just wear gloves when rinsing the pieces.. it will suck every bit of moisture from your hands and leave you feeling like you have dry 'sharkskin' hands for a week or more if you don't)

Voice of experience... thought I would dunk one part painted with acrylics and rinse... it wasn't a good feeling afterwards... Disapprove [V]

I see that it is no longer called, CSC, "Castrol Super Clean" now huh?
I wonder when that changed?
I went to Wal-Mart earlier and got a gallon of Super Clean for $6.36 which is a great deal on the best paint stripper for modeling you can buy.
I was at another auto store today and bought some "Purple Power" cleaner which sounded like the same thing and it is worthless in my opinion.
The difference is that Super Clean contains Sodium Hydroxide (lye) and Purple Power doew not.
Once again, accept no substitutes. Smile [:)]
