Has anyone tried Automotive Lacquer Primer ?

I was at a NAPA auto parts store and saw that they sold Auto paints. Asked the salesman if they might have a primer that would work on styrene plastic. He gave me a Light Gray Lacquer Primer_Surfacer, (Instant Dry). I did not use it right away and forgot about it. Then I started building again and tried it. It went on very course and clogged eaisly.(In Airbrush) I had thinned it with lacquer thinner, WRONG! Switched to Acetone and this is the best primer I have used, thin coat, fast dry, easy sand and great top coats. And a Quart last forever. I like to save the money but having plenty to use sure is nice. Just wondered if anyone else has tried auto paints thru an airbrush?

I just started using Vari prime as a primer. The only problem ,you have to use their reducer. It covers very well and it fills in small imperfections in the putty. It is mixed 1 to 1.For the average person to buy would be too costly. I have never used Mr Surface primers but it sounds almost the same idea.
