Painting 1/700 Decks
Posted by Bill Clarke on Monday, April 24, 2006 1:19 AM
Hi, I am looking for advice from you guys on how you approach the job of painting the decks of 1/700 ships. With all those deck details and vertical surfaces around wooden areas, how do you do it ?

1. Paint the hull and all vertical structures.

2. Mask hull and vertical structures using very small sections of tape.  This is time consuming and requires patience.

3. Paint around all deck structures use a 1/16 inch flat brush.  Pull the brush from the structure's edge to the center of the deck.  Do not brush towards the structures or you will push paint under the tape.

4. Continue painting around vertical structures out to about 1/8 inch.

5. Finish brush painting the open areas of the deck.
