Triarius,

I've tried the wash over flat paints and had a problem with the wash "soaking" into the flat finish and being next to impossible to remove. My wash consists of Tamiya flat black and smoke in about ten parts thinner (x21a) to one part paint. I'd hesitate to use it again on a flat surface.

Okay, I've got a question. I apply washes over a gloss surface, but I've also used acrylic washes over flat acrylics for interior shading. I was thinking of trying this on the exterior, too, especially on olive drab surfaces where weathering had a drastic effect on color. Has anyone tried this, or want to comment on the pros and cons?

Luis - if you already have a gloss finish then you wouldn't need to future it... the only reason behind the future is to provide a finish the acrylic won't stick to, since it's already slick you don't have to worry...

Is the entire outer surface glossy?  if not future just the dull parts in case any wash gets on them... otherwise you're ready to go!!!

ok, i think this is a stupid question.. before doing a wash,( i use watercolor, acrylic artist paints ) i should make sure the surface is glossy right? to do this i spray with clear paint, future etc. but what if the base color that i used is already gloss? can i go straight to my wash? thanks!
