when I've gotten the graininess before it's been due to the spraying pressure being too high.  The paint is drying before it hits the model in some cases...

I tend to stick to future diluted with Tamiya thinner for my gloss coats now.  The thinner has a retarder in it that slows the future drying time, giving it more time to settle.  Also the thinned future settls quicker as it is not so viscous.  I've heard of others using isopropanalol alcohol to thin it with success...

Hi,

I decided to go for the vallejo gloss finish but ended up with a very fine grainy gloss instead of a nice gloss sheen, oh and forgot to remask the canopy

I've obviously got my airbrush set wrong but not sure what

I have let the valleyo gloss harden off and have applied a coat of future which i am at present waiting to curebefore decaling/weathering.

Thx DT

DT - from what I saw on Vellejo's site the Matte Medium is designed to replace the thinner so yeah... I would think it is similar to Tamiya Flat base... I've never used it, I always use the Vallejo dropper bottles of Matte and Semi gloss varnishes...

Hi,

Has any one used vallejo matte medium instaed of tamiya flat base with future (Klear)? does it mix as well as the tamiya product?

I'm toying with the idea of using the  "future method" as opposed to using the vallejo model air clear gloss prior to decaling and finishing off with a vallejo clear matte top coat.

I've used Future before but had no need too matte the finish, (nothing matte on a red arrows gnat)

Advice greatly appreciated.
