Fellas, I'm off to Reno shortlyTongue [:P] I've got my hobby list made out as wellBig Smile [:D] I'll look for the Tenax or Ambroids while I'm there. I like going into High Sierra Models in Reno as the owner is pretty cool & helpful. Not to mention there's quite a variety of kits & such... If I hit it big up there, ya know where I'll be leaving my moneyWhistling [:-^]

I'll check it out over the weekend.  If I ordered from outside the European Union, any import might be subject to Import Duy, of it's over a certain value, or gets picked up & rattled by HM Customs & Excise when it enters the country.  On small priced items that shouldn't be a problem, but the Post Office charge an exorbitant sum for collecting the duty, which in proportion to the cost of the item AND the duty bumps the price up a LOT... Disapprove [V]

Now that's interesting... I didn't know about there being an additional charge on something if it's over a certain amountShock [:O] Bet Robin Hood is rolling over in his graveDead [xx(]

ok I did some digging for ya and found out the Badger 100LG is 99.99 pounds at www.Hannants.co.uk, at www.dixieart.com it is 36 pounds (equivalent) plus about $20 for shipping (10 pounds? cost)  I think you are subject to VAT tax so I couldn't figure that in but it looks to come in around the same price or a little less than the H&S Evolution if you ordered it from the states.

The H&S is 110.00 Euros which without shipping comes to 74 pounds... the Badger 100LG from dixieart comes in approximately at about 57 pounds or so without the extra needle and tip combo including shipping, but not figuring in VAT...

I guess it boils down to when ya want to receive your new brush... if its worth a few extra shekels (just to introduce one more currency type haha) then H&S.. if you are not wanting to spend a ton, then dixieart and wait a few weeks, although the savings is not significant as in compared to hannants... I'd stay away from the 100LG at hannants... a bit on the high side which is par for hobby shops here too!

But if you get either the H&S Evolution or 100LG spare parts are available in the UK for both...

I'd try to see what is avaialable (along with spare parts) locally to you... if not that, then what is available by mail order from your side of the pond..  the Harder and Steenbeck Evolution line is supposedly one of the top brushes on your side and it ships from www.obeeliks.com in Belgium I believe....

This one looked good if you browse through there, pretty much the equiv of the 100LG with fine and medium tips.

Harder & Steenbeck Airbrush Evolution Silverline 0.2 + 0.4 mm But first I'd check locally..  you don't want to wait 3 weeks for a replacement needle to arrive all the way from the US.

not sure what the Euro to pound conversion is but it might be a bit pricey for ya... in that case ordering a brush and a few spare needles and tips from a local source or even www.dixieart.com might be a better outlook.  I have friends in AU who say it is cheaper than buying the brush locally even with international shipping....

I owned both the 155 and 175, and while the 155 is better somewhat at fine detail, it would be close enough to make me think you would be better off with the 175 and a gravity fed as mentioned.. there is a big enough difference in the two (175 vs. gravity fed) to make it worth your while...

From what I've read here, the 155 is a bit like the 175. I don't recall which thread  but, I'll look for it & add it here.

Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom. " Charles Spurgeon

Eddie - if nothing else, try a bottle of Ambroids pro-weld.. about $3.95 here.. works much the same way except you brush it on with a brush already supplied in the bottle.  Not near as hot but will weld the pieces together.  either solvent will allow you to go an inch or so at a time along a seam allowing you time to line it up before you glue... Tenax is better with the drawback of being a bit hotter and needing the glass applicator... Ambroids is not as hot but sometimes you won't get the seam penetration that Tenax would... both work.. both have good points and bad... both are head and tails above tube cement and some of the other liquid cements...  these are actually plastic weld agents...

If/when you get it, you will be suprised, cause the way it works, but you are supposed to stick the tube in the glue and let it suck it up, now I figured that it would run out, or that I would have glue all over me from the tube being in the bottle, but the stuff doesn't run out, and it evaporates FAST! Eddie - the Tenax is about $5 to $6 a bottle here but it lasts a looong time.  The glass tube applicator is about $5 here.. .it's really worth it for the above mentioned reasons...  word of caution:  never "push" the applicator across the plastic, always pull it toward you.  It melts the plastic pretty fast and will clog the tip if you do that...

here's a good guide on one way to apply it...

http://www.accurate-miniatures.com/builds/sbd/sbdbuild05.shtml

-=edit=-

just read anothe post ya made.. if the plastic clogs the tip just sit the tip in the Tenax for a minute or so and BAM!!!  it's all dissolved.. Tenax is like water... literally...   it won't clog the tip...

Ed, I think I paid around $7-8 for my Touch N Flow. Its just a small glass tube with a needle in the end, but it makes using the stuff so very much easier, and it will save you from ruining about a 1/4 bottle of Tenax, cause when you dip a brush in there, you get melted plastic in it from the brush, and that tends to dilute the glue. I would recommend it, I would also mention, get yourself some of the paint tubes, the ones that Testers sells with the mixing bottles, and use that to draw that glue into the TNF, cause I couldn't hardly ever get it to go the right way! If you get one and you have any questions, just ask, I'm sure a lot of us can help you out! Good luck Ed!
