Buying new airbrush-would like advice
Posted by out04 on Sunday, May 28, 2006 8:27 PM

I have given up on my aztek and I'm looking for a better airbrush/compressor combo.  Any suggestions?  I usually build 1/48th modern jets/helis and I prefer to use enamels over acrylics.  Any comments would be appreciated.

-I apologize if this question gets asked too often.

What do you build?
What do you want in an airbrush?

for that scale something like the Iwata HP-CR or the Omni 4000 would be good choices.  They both allow decent all over coverage with decent fine detail ability.  As far as a compressor it depends.  If you live alone and not in an apartment a hardware compressor from Lowes or such works fine.  If noise is a concern there are other choices like the Silentaire and Iwata compressors among others.  Check out www.dixieart.com and look at the selection.

Think about an Iwata Eclypse or a Badger 100 LG.    I second Dixie Art Supply, check them out before buying. Remember to buy your accessories at the same time to save on shipping and handeling. You may need an airhose and a spare tip and needle.  Greg.
