Model Master Acryl paints
Posted by mtollens on Wednesday, August 13, 2003 7:32 PM
Just tried the Model Master Acryl paints; airbrushed straight from the bottle, no thinner and had a terrific experience with them. I shot flat gull gray and flat white with no problems, clean up a breeze and didn't stink the family out of the house.

Those paints are great for airbrush, but way too thin if you want to brush paint them, at least without going over it with a few hundred coats.

i had very good experience w/ that brand while painting a 1/32 Stuka.
interesting, because my friend has given me all of his paint from this brand because of adhesion problems.
both of us use an Aztek. (hail of tomatoes ensues!) :-)

i primed first w/ Floquil RR primer and lost a bit of paint to Pactra tape.
but it held up fine to Tamiya tape and regular masking tape.
(i only use the 'good tape' on the edges for a plane of this size!)

never make an assumption!!! I assumed the guy at the model store sold me MMacrylic Dark Sea Blue, and couldnt understand why it would not mix. I tried, water, alcohol, and Testor thinner and it just separated. Another shop ordered some new Dark Sea Blue, and when i got home, i looked closely at the bottle, and it said "enamel" ... not acryl. So rather than wait another week for the new paint to arrive, i airbrushed the enamel, and dont like it near as well as the acrylic.

bnsfco,

I used my Badger 350; I have yet to try it with my Badger 200 or old Model Master double action gun. The old Model Master looks like the Aztek that no one seems to like! I've never had a problem with the Model Master version, so maybe Aztek is new but NOT improved.

Alex,

I don't see why not, if it works with the simple 350 it should work fine with the Cadillac of airbrushes you have!
