Ok Drew.  I'll give it the old college try again tonight.

There in is another problem I had. I used tamiya tape to "try" and hold it down. The tamiya tape was backed up by good old 3m blue masking tape. I only used the tamiya tape to 'hold' the stencil in place. I taped it on four sides as close to the image as I could. I tried not to let the masking tape pull the stencil down around a bend and raise the one I was using. It slipped a bit and was off centre and turned a bit too.  The 3m blue masking tape should be strong enough though.

Thanks Drew.  One more Q.  What do you use to hold the stencils?  I found masking tape to lack the ablity to hold the stencil down well enough, evidently.

Hey mortar, Not the first one with this problem. What I have found is most likely the metal is not flat on the model. Make sure it is down securely. Next don't try to paint the emblem in one shot. You should try several light coats 2-4 and build the color slowly (especially whiteYuck [yuck]) A soft edge will almost allways be there to some extent though. A couple of washes and some weathering and any minor flaws will disapear and help it look more natural. (well it worked for me anyways).

I've been trying to us some metal stencils for marking my US tanks, but the paint keeps sneaking out under the stencils.  Can anyone offer me a suggestion about what I might be doing wrong or not doing at all?
