Vallejo color matching and touch-up (Model Air and Model Color)
Posted by vfxart on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 10:53 PM
Continuing the painting adventure...

Has anyone used V's Model Color to touch up a Model Air paint job? Any thoughts if so? I've got a two-tone paint scheme that's got a few questionable edges (want to round off a couple of sharper bits, etc) and am looking for anyone who's had the experience of trying this. I think the MA would be a bit too thin (I've used it with a brush, straight from the bottle before...) Now is not the time to get adventurous on this little guy... the scheme colors are gun metal (Tamiya) over Scarlet Red (started life as Tamiya Bright Red TS49... and I didn't like the spray can result so I sanded it, polished it out, sprayed it with the Vallejo Scarlet Red; went over like a dream!)

Thanks in advance...

If you don't hear from someone who has the answer, maybe you could try what you need to do on some scrap.. lay down some Model Air and then try Model Color to make your mods.

While I haven't faced your exact dilemma, I brush paint MA all the time... straight from the bottle it does fine.  You just have to go real light with it on areas where you want it to blend good.  Put down several thin coats, letting it dry completely between each one..

Jack also had some very good advice... try it on scrap and you'll know!  I know the paints do well together, I would be more curious to if the tones match perfectly after drying..

Good luck!!
