Winter Camoflauge
Posted by Tojo72 on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 3:36 PM

What is the best way to apply winter camo to an armor model.I am working on Tamiya's 1/48 Stug III model G and I would like  to attempt the winter whitewash finish over the base color.

I have only built three armor models before but I am really enjoying them  I have built Tamiya's 1/48 Tiger, sherman and T-34    I really enjoy applying the weathering and washing and rust

Any suggestions would be appreciated...............thanks

I think most people do a whitewash with thinned white, maybe a few light coats till you get it where you want. I use a technique where I use flat white right out of the bottle in almost a drybrush (just a little wetter) hit a towel with the brush then the model and almost punch the brush into the model lightly, small section at a time until it is built up to where I want the white.  I would practice this on a piece of cardboard or something to get the feel. this is not painting mind you, it is a dryer technique. Good brushes are a must.
