I guess it would come down to how big of a pain it is.  A typical Spitfire, ME-109, or Panther tank is not overly difficult or tedious, and so I have done all without looking for simplified or non-camo schemes.  On the other hand, if I picked up a German aircraft that might have been painted with a sqiggly worm type camo, that would exceed my skill, so I would opt for an easier scheme.

To be honest yeah I do sometimes, especially with German Armor, it so much easier to paint a Tiger grey then a 2 tone yellow/green camo scheme, although if its a 1/35 scale it much more easier then 1/72.

No, I do them, I prefer freehand camo to masked but if it is masked I will do it if the model calls me enough... right now I have a Aussie Spitfire sitting in the box ready to mask but I can't bring myself to do it... one day I will...  I guess my answer would be I procrastinate when doing masked camo...

By the same token I don't mind splinter camo as much as the disruptive camo of WWII British aircraft... I guess cutting all the curves and lining them up is worse in a way..
