A simple question bout alclad 2
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 5:23 AM

Hi there

I m doing a B29 that i want to finish in alclad , would it be ok to spray the wings as a seperate assemby to the fusealge , will the paint job still look even or will you be able to tell that they were done apart , the reason is that my spray booth just wont take the kit fully made up .

As alway thanks again

Should not be a problem as long as any primer and finish coats are applied evenly.  In this case even if there was a slight variartion I would think it should pass off as differences in the panels and in fact work to your benefit.

I would personally not do it. I'm finishing a 39 inch wingspan 1/72 B36. I set up a clear plastic tarp in a circle in the cellar right near the bulkhead and spray in it with a mask and glasses. I place the model in the other room when I'm done and open the door to let out the fumes.

It will take a great deal of extra effort to make your B29 look right if it is sprayed  unassembled..

not many of my models would ever fit in a normal booth.......big planes ships etc.......so my deal works for me. If you were spraying flat paints you could do it outside.
