There's probably a significant amount of mold release so wash it well with soap and water then prime. Vallejo/Andrea will tend to bead up on bare resin and will not bond all that well. Primer can be white, light gray, tan, some people even use black. I've been using flowuil gray primer and it works pretty well.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Good old Plasticote gray auto primer from WallyWorld is a good primer for resin.  Its also less expensive than a paint which is marketed toward modelers  (~3 bux for a jumbo rattlecan)

Other good primers are American Traditions from Lowes and Painter's Choice from Home Depot.   In fact, my finish paint color of choice for resin ship hulls is Lowe's American Tradition Rusty Red Primer.

Do wash the resin in soapy water and allow to air dry.

Further on this matter,  certain FSM articles concerning prepping of resin say that Westley's Bleech White removes all mold release agents from the resin casting.  An overnight soaking is suggested in these articlces. Bleech-White is normally used to bring up the "whiteness" in white walled auto tires,  and can be found in auto supply stores.....
