Tamiya Spray Booth, item 74521

I have one. It's a small unit that features a folding front which makes it really compact for storage purposes. It is small enough to fit on a really small desk (like mine), and it has enough suction for small to medium size parts being airbrushed. You need a window close to the unit to put the air hose outside. The trick with this unit is that you have to hold the object to be sprayed close to the back wall while spraying. I like it, but I have limited room available and need to be able to remove my spray booth quickly from my desk after spraying in order to continue working with the model at hand.

I am also looking at another spray booth I saw in this months FS Modeler ads, Pace Enterprises, http://www.pacepaintbooths.com/pace/

This past Friday, I was doing a trial run with a very make shift spray booth and was using a respirator in lieu of a spray booth... I guess as long as the lungs are clean... it's the end result that matters.

I look forward to sharing my newly found success with this community.

Spray booths are not replacements for respirators, I have a spray booth and I use a respirator. I spray acrylics only and have no wish to breath in little dried bits of plastic.

Spray booths prevent the spread of toxic chemicals and odors from contaminating your home and your loved ones. If they have doors (and I firmly believe that spray booths should) they also allow the model to dry in an almost dust free area.

Please, for you own safety and that of others, do not stop using a respirator once you have a spray booth!

 Bgriggs I will definitely keep using my respirator for any airbrushing etc... In fact, I think I need to upgrade my current safety glasses situation as well.

This weekend I was priming two 1/72 Tamiya P-51's and the respirator sure came in handy.

Dubau, that rig of yours looks quite impressive. As Bgriggs mention, do you have doors on that Peace Keeper? I am currently using my gargage as my work bench and could forsee that dust would be a problem.

Lastly, I simply wanted to say thank you for the entire community for being so supportive. I have learned a large amount by simply reading the forums.

No I do not have any doors where my Spray Booth is.  What type of paint do you use, Acrylice or Enamels ? I ask becouse I use Acrylices and they dry FAST so with the S/B sucking out the air and the paint drying fast I don't get dust on my models. I just use a small room in my basement. Now some people have some kind of booth where they can sit there models in with a door. I guess it's all up to where you are working.

How that helps and please let us know what you get.

I am currently using Pactra Prep thinned with Aero-Gloss for priming and using Tamiya Acrylics and thinner for paint. It seems to dry quickly.

I'll keep you informed of my final decision on the S/B.
