Note: this is the same message I posted at Hyperscale...
With the apparent demise of Humbrol I was very concerned that Xtracolor Enamels would disappear from the market. I e-mailed Hannants and asked what would happen. Nigel answered that they would sell more Xtracolor. I replied that it has been widely reported in the US that Humbrol manufactured Xtracolor for Hannants (I have repeated that myth myself in the past). His response:
"Humbrol never had and never will have anything at all to do with the production or anything else of Xtracolor. It is 100% different and completely unconnected."
That's very good news indeed, in view of the sad loss of Airfix, Humbrol and Heller.
If you haven't tried Xtracolor and are inclined to use enamels, I recommend them highly. They go on like warm butter, level nicely, and dry to a smooth, high gloss. No need for an extra coat of Future before applying decals. They have a very complete line of WWII and contemporary military colors, and a line of airline colors, too.
This has been an unsolicited and unpaid plug from a satisfied and relieved customer.
Regards,
Bruce
