Try Model Master Acrylics. They carry most WWII aircraft colors. The paint usually requires no thinning and lays down beautifully. Polly Scale and Gunze Sangyo are also excellent acrylic paint lines and offer good choices for WWII aircraft schemes.

Airbrush for Dummies (read novice)
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, September 18, 2006 11:49 AM

Hi All,

I decided it is time to airbrush, instead of using brushes, the two Messerschmitt 109s (72nd scale) I am working on.

I managed to lend a Hansa Aero-pro 200 and bought some compressed air in cans (as I am a novice I did not want to spend too much money on a compressor).

I have been doing some trials on paper but my AB keeps on clogging up. I tried various several paint vs thinner ratios but problem keeps coming back. I guess the pigment in the paint I am using (Humbrol and Revell Enamel Matt finish) are too grainy.

Can anyone recommend a good (and afordable) brand and type of paint that carries a good selection of colors I can use for my WWII airplanes?
