Your right - i spent time looking over reference photos and there really aren't any major chipped areas on the tanks from what i can see. The space where the crew walks might be a little worn but overall i couldn't find a picture of a tank that has really chipped areas. I think some subtle work with a pencil might actually be more than enugh. I've been told and i read that German crews would keep their tanks in best shape possible which makes sense - thousands of miles away from home you take care of the equipment that your life depends on.

Don't over do it. Think about the scale and the size of the chips. It is not likley to have a 1ft square section of chipped paint on a working vechile, and most crews will keep their vechile in good condition.

Paint chipping

My Tiger project has reached the final weathering stages and i am happy with the new techniques i have learned but the paint chipping is one that i havent quite mastered and i would appreciate any help.

I bought a 20/0 brush at the art store and mixed a grey/red brown but the supposed chips look more like blotches and dont look right.
I also tried a toothpick and a neelde but the color didnt want to transfer over onto the model with these.

How can i improve ?
