Compressor question
Posted by SkippyOU110 on Saturday, November 18, 2006 10:19 AM
I recently returned from Iraq and when I unpacked my modeling supplies which had been in storage for a year I noticed that a bottle of airbrush cleaner had cracked and leaked.  The only thing packed with it was my Smart Jet compressor which was still in the box.  Unfortunately the extra long curly hose had disintegrated.  I'm sure it's easy enough to buy a new hose but I was wondering if perhaps any of the internal parts of the compressor had been damaged and if so, is there any way I could tell?  Thanks!

I'm not familiar with that particular compressor, but I think your concern would be any internal gaskets or diaphrams. If it were mine, I'd tear it down and inspect these—just the passage of time could cause degradation depending on length and storage conditions. And welcome home!

Hoses are pretty easy to get like you said. Plug the thing in and turn it on, check it out. If there are isssues then repair/replace any parts that were damaged. Your SmartJet should have a parts diagram breakdown that would help in ordering the parts. Or go to the manufacture website.
