Bed, Bath and Beyond sells a Blu Tac like stuff that works great.  It is yellow in color.  I tested some on the bottom of the wing of a finished model and forgot it was there for about a month or so.  Pulled it off and it did not leave a mark of any kind.

I used Blue Tack on a ship model and it worked well.

Thanks for the replies.  I'll stick with the Silly Putty or Blu-Tac if I can find it.

Thank you!

Will be building an aircraft for which I'll want a very light feathered edge on the camo, and am wondering what is a better masking agent, Silly Putty or Play-Dough.  I would think Play-Dough would be more economical but not sure which has better properties.

Thank you,
