Paint with H prefix? Humbol? 120? A shade of red?

Thanks for the link. I've been looking for something like that. Light green, odd for a water line color. Must be a Soviet/East German thing.

Humbrol 120 is a light green, check http://airfix.com/cs/resources/paints.aspx for Humbrol paint colors.

Bump-Looking for a red called H120 by instructions haven't figured out which company. It is a anti-fouling hull red.

That makes so much sense doesn't it? Not! Would a Polish kit call for Gunze? I just figured it was Humbol since is says H33 is black and Humbol 33 is matt black.

The H before the number of the paint is typicaly used by Gunze Sangyo paints. I've bought a lot of kits over the years from Hasegawa and all color references are from Gunze Sangyo, starting with an "H".

Thanks, Ed. That's what I thought but who knows. I think I have Neutral Gray and a bottle of clear semi-gloss. That should be fine. I can pick up the Gunship Grey when I get the International Orange. I'm absurdly taken by the little thing for some reason. I haven't stop playing with it since it came so I brokedown and started it. I've nearly gotten the seam going down the keel taken care of, but I think that the portholes aren't right based on the few pics I've seen. I think they might be closer to the Pauk class. There are 6 below the deck, two dimples below (those get filled I guess) and two porthole sized spots just above the waterline on the port and there are 8 below the deck, two dimples below (those also get filled I guess) and two porthole sized spots just above the waterline on the starboard. I keep looking for line drawings and not finding any. I don't think either of my ship books have them either. Off to look again.

Yes they do refer to Humbrol numbers. Some kits even refer to Vallejo colors.

BUT, if you are intending on doing her as the USS Hiddensee, in US Navy test & evaluation service, the hull & superstructure color for USN Modern Haze Gray would be 26270. Modelmaster Neutral Gray is 36270, flat vs satin. For the deck go with Gunship Gray White Ensign Colourcoats also have an excellent series of paint for US Navy modern colors

The Hiddensee is a Tarantul I Class Missile Corvette that was Soviet built for the East German Navy, saw service with the unified Navy and ended her days with the US Navy and part of Battleship Cove. I figured I do her up for the US Navy just because of the novelty of it.

Unless I am mistaken, the Hiddensee is a Russian built, (for the East German navy) Tarantul-1 class Missile Corvette.

I'm looking at instructions for Mirage's "Hiddensee" and the paint is all designated by H#. The only color named is H33 as black and if I recall HUMBOL 33 is black. If that is the case my next step is finding a Humbol chart and figuring out if I have it in MM. The only other color mentioned by name is orange. Since I think the item in question are life rafts I'd say FS12197 Internation Orange is what I'll be picking up at the store. Any thoughts? Thanks guys.

I noticed it calls for H120 for the underside and a reddish edge is barely visible in a couple pics. I would dare say this is an antifouling red probably. Can anybody suggest an FS# or a MM/Testors color cause I probably have that?
