Mediums are designed to be mixed directly with paint to achieve different/desired effects.
Medium matt- when mixed with paint will reduce the shine or sheen of the paint's appearance.
Medium gel- will increase the working time of the paint it is mixed with, and help to reduce/smooth brush strokes. Some gel mediums will also thicken and stiffen paint for added texture.
Medium varnish- is a preservative/preserving agent.
