New AB
Posted by ftozier on Monday, December 25, 2006 3:48 PM

I just received a Badger 350 -3 for Christmas. This is my first AB. Is there anything peculiar

about this AB? It appears to be rather straight forward.

This is my first step in getting back too modeling.

Good for you!  The 350 is a good, solid single action airbrush.  I've seen some fantastic work done with it that can rival double action airbrushes.  As always, thin and strain your paints and practice, practice, practice.

One thing to be wary of with the 350 is the air hose attachment fitting.

If it's like the one I had years ago, the screw fitting is press-fitted into the body of the airbrush. This can work it's way loose over time and when you turn on the air it will blast itself off the airbrush. While you won't lose it (because it is screwed on to the end of the airhose) you might lose the tiny trigger return spring held inside.

A simple solution suggested to me as a precaution was to run a tiny drop of paint around the base of the connector where it meets the body of the airbrush and let it dry before you start using it.

Apart from that, the 350 is a good solid unit, though the design of the brush dictates that you need to use slightly higher air pressure than you would for a "traditional" internal mix design.

Thank you for the information. I will use your suggestion when I fire the AB for the first time.
