Airbrush Equipment
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, January 11, 2007 12:25 AM

I am looking to buy airbrush equipment.  Is Paasche VL a good way to begin?  Any suggestions, experience?

By all accounts, the Paasche VL is a good airbrush.

If there is anywhere you can go to try out several different air brushes, do it.

Search these forums on "airbrush" for other considerations and recommendations.

Good luck and have fun!

I don't have a bunch of AB experience but I have been given a Paasche VL AB for Christmas and I am very pleased with it. My previous experience was with a Testor's A220 which just didn't perform to my liking.

So coming from someone that has a Paasche VL but has never owned an AB prior... I love it. Smile [:)]

I'm on my 3rd Airbrush (Basic Badger, Aztek, now an Iawata HP-C) and whatever airbrush you settle on I highly recommend that you practice, practice, practice.  Try different pressures, paint thinning, the whole bit.

A book I have suggested practicing on a piece of paper to check out the different line thicknesses and coverage you can get and a friend recommended that I take an old model and 'repaint it' as practice.  I found it made me much more able to take advantage of the advanced features of these airbrushes and get better results.

Good luck!

I learned to airbrush with the Paasche VL, it is a good airbrush and has been around for a very long time. I prefer a thinner bodied airbrush personally but it is still a good tool.
