I'm on my 3rd Airbrush (Basic Badger, Aztek, now an Iawata HP-C) and whatever airbrush you settle on I highly recommend that you practice, practice, practice. Try different pressures, paint thinning, the whole bit.
A book I have suggested practicing on a piece of paper to check out the different line thicknesses and coverage you can get and a friend recommended that I take an old model and 'repaint it' as practice. I found it made me much more able to take advantage of the advanced features of these airbrushes and get better results.
Good luck!
