Best paint for Fine Molds models
Posted by Gigatron on Friday, January 19, 2007 9:29 AM

Hi everyone,

I have been out of the modeling scene for quite a while.  Last model I built was about 15 yrs ago and I painted it using a rattle can and some testors enamels.  But recently, I've had an itching to do some real model making again.

I purchased an Iwata HP-BCS about a year ago for other projects, so I'm familiar with some paints.  I've been using mostly medea acrylics for painting resin and vinyl kits.  I find that medea goes on very thin and requires several coats before color even begins to show.

So, what would be a decent paint brand that will work well on the Fine Molds kits (I'm not sure if they're resin or styrene).  I generally prefer acrylics because of the easy clean up and lack of odor, but if you guys think that enamels would work better, could you suggest a brand and whether or not they need to be thinned.

Thanks,

Fred
