That's exactly what happened, the hazing.  When i sprayed it on I thought it was a bit thick.

I'll try what you recommended and hope it blends it in a bit.  I'll never use a can again.

Thanks for the info!

If you spray canned it, I'm assuming you probably applied too much and caused some hazing (accessive buildup). That does happen with spray cans......not your fault. I would not advise stripping it. Get some acrylic flat coat and semi-gloss to airbrush. MM makes it. Mix a little (1:3 ratio) semi-gloss in with the flat and apply with airbrush. This may 'level out' the patches and lessen them a bit.

I use to use canned clear coat and had the same problems. Plus, if too much is applied it can cause the paint to wrinkle up. I would suggest only using airbrushed clear coats. Hope this helps.......

clear-coat problem, need help

I'm building the 1/350 Bismarck and I used acrylic paints by air-brush.  When I finished painting the hull I decided to use an acrylic matte clear-coat to protect it.  When it dried it left big mottled areas that are quite obvious.  This was a spray can of acrylic matte spray. I had just finished painting the bottom hull so no tape residue or anything there and it mottled there also.

What can I do short of stripping the hull and starting over?  If I have to strip the hull, what do I use?
