Games Workshop Paints?

 GW paints work well wherever you place them. I prefer Reaper Wargame acrylics, the GW stuff just seems to make a skin in the pot as Im working with it and I prefer the eyedropper control the Reaper paint gives you.

by dragon models, do you mean of the scaly, often winged variety, or model kits by Dragon model manufacturer? if that is the case I would suggest a hobby paint such as Testors Model Master.

I actually use both Gw and Vallejo brush-on acrylics (because I can't stand the stench of paint thinner). Your first and foremost problem would be achieving a consistent, smooth coat and let's face it, if you use a brush, you're never going to achieve that.

If you're happy with being sub-par, however, I say go for it. I use a large stiff brush to apply basecoats on my vehicles (the GW "tank brush", as a matter of fact), which gets me a barely-adequate coverage in 2-3 coats. Shading, of course, is a problem (the GW paint range is hideously garish), which means I tend to spend a lot of time mixing appropriate tones.

It's good enough for me, but I would not recommend it for anyone. Get an airbrush, you'll be happier with it in the long run. Only losers like me have an excuse to be without.
