Thanks Guys, after tweaking my airbrush a little and stirring the paint alot considering it wasn't gunky, it was just stuck to the bottle which was wierd b/c it was premixed and never opened.  It worked perfectly after that.

Thanks again

ModelMan8,

The running could be due to a number of factors. How much did you thin the paint before you airbrushed it? What pressure did you have the airbrush set at? How thick did you apply the paint?

Ideally you need to have the paint thin enough to spray smoothly without clogging, but not so thin that it runs. The consistency of 2% milk is often quoted as ideal.

For pressure, it's good to have it almost dry when it hits the model, but not so dry that it is pebbly.

All of these things can affect the paint's performance. And that doesn't include outside variables like humidity and temperature.

Hope this helps.

Assuming you haven't over-thinned the paint, it sounds like the paint wasn't stirred thouroughly in the bottle.  Try taking a toothpick with a wide end and using it like a paint stirrer to make sure you get the sludge at the bottom of the bottle and re-disolve it back into the rest of the paint.

Just as a side note, you may want to spray the white first and the blue after.  general rule of thumb is to apply dark colors over lighter colors to avoid issues with bleed-through.

Good luck,

Fred

Air Brushing Question
Posted by ModelMan8 on Thursday, February 15, 2007 11:38 AM

I am currently working on a Tamiya 1/48 Corsair and I need help with airbrushing it.  I am using Testors DK Blue and Flat White.  My problem is that after spraying the blue I sprayed the white and it ran every where.Sign - Oops [#oops]  I was wandering what I could do to the paint to make less runny since the Hobby Shop is out of Airbrush paint.
