Warm Paint
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 8:05 PM
I live in Florida and my house is reletively small. this means that there is no room in the house to have a work area and I am forced to model in the garage. The garage is not as hot as aoutside but it does get pretty warm. Is it damaging to the paint if it is the heat of my garage (they are in a plastic toolbox) and will it effect the consistancy of the paint.

Thanks

Also, I have pretty much all types of paint, so if it is harmful to any type please notify me.

As long as the bottles have a tight seal it will not hurt them. I found a box of paint I had placed in my storage building and the paint was still good. It had been there for over two years. How it managed to get in there I have no idea. Maybe the wife knows.

As Berny says, as long as the seals are good the paint will be ok. I warm my paint in a water bath before using it anyway, as it helps with the consistency, and makes it easier to mix. If you have any concerns just keep the tool box of paint else where, and bring it to the garage as needed.

Happy modeling,
