Tamiya Spray Paint Odor
Posted by MattSix on Monday, March 5, 2007 3:15 PM
I recently discovered Tamyia Spray Paints for Aircraft. (I previously used Testors Model Masters) I love the finished results these paints provide, but the paint reeks while it dries! I always spray outside ,in the back yard while wearing a mask. You know, loads of fresh air and all that outdoors stuff. But 30 minutes to 1 hour later, the "dry" paint still smells! How long should I wait to bring the parts back into the house? What is the source of that odor anyway? I never noticed it using the old Testors spray cans.

It might be dry to touch in 30-60 minutes, but as with all paints, it will take considerably longer to fully cure - something in the order of at least 8-12 hours. During the curing process, it will continue to release vapours.
