A little grain of salt ( mais de quoi je me mêle, moi ? ) : if you plan to use this airbrush only for modeling, you could consider either a HP CH which seems to me more suited to this job than the CM C+; well, it is totally subjective but I find the CM C+ action too smooth for the job, and the HP CH ( I speak of what I know only ) more to my "taste".Both are excellent tools anyway.

je ne parle pas francais, but I'll take your grain of salt with a smile and a thanks. I havent used the CMC yet just looking at specs and thinking that matches what I want it to do. I have other AB's. I am after one to do the very fine things - hairlines. Which of course, they all say they'll do, but I find that a Paasche hairline is about 3/16" thick on a good day.

Paasche. You'd do as well with a chunk of sawed off black pipe with a framing nail for a needle and a whoopie cushion for the air pressure. Thats the last one of their wares I'll be investing in.

Well, if you speak of Paasche, I must admit that :

_ they have a wonderful commercial department (reasonable prices, easy to buy even overseas, nice people)

_Every double action of theirs that I personally tried or even owned was crap, with one exception though : the AB model which I find great, specially the older ones with the green handle ( I own two and not willing to throw those ones ) .

I think you'll be happy with with any top Iwata, but let me tell you a short story : I owned a HP CH that I sold to a friend to buy a CM C+; I got my CM C+ ...and I finally also bought another HP CH. In fact, it is obviously subjective but I prefer the action of the HP CH ( and I don't like the grip of Badger 150 either ) . They are very close anyway. If needle/nozzle gauge means something, I think CM C is 0.18, CM C+ is 0.23 and HP CH is 0.30. I don't know if the CM C is still produced but as far as I remember, gauge adaptation can be made ( 0.18 set on a CM C+, for instance ). For the record, the tiniest gauge I know is 0.12 on Aerograph Sprite, did not try yet as mine are mounted in 0.15 or bigger. As for hairlines, Custom Micron surely will do. Sotar also but I would not try on my Sotar what I did on my CM. Just to puzzle you a bit more, you could consider Harder & Steenbeck Evolution ( or Grafo but it's a bit different ) which is very "modular" as for needle gauge, cup size, the only needle traveler limiter I know that can be switched on/off, Fine Pressure Control ( same stuff as the MAC valve of Iwata ) and some more.

Let's face the facts, chap : life can be very hard when time comes to choose another top airbrush.

I bow to your wisdom and obvious greater volume of experience, but I'm a stubborn cad of Scandanavian descent and I'm gettin the CMC. Mostly now because I dont want to start the whole research thing again!

As for the CM, you'll find it is a great airbrush anyway. Have a lot of fun with it. If you have a little doubt aftermath, don't sell it. I am a pathological monogame as for girls, but not for airbrushes, you can love several of them and they are not jealous.

If you want Iwata quality and money is a factor check out the Peak C-5 at Bearair.  I have a couple of Iwata's, a Peak and an Harder & Steenbeck Evolution.  The Evolution is the best but the Peak is great for the money.  The Peak is made in the same factory, for Bear air, where the Iwata brushes are made.  The only difference is the name on the side.  I have the C-5 and the parts are interchangable with my Iwata.  If you want another brand (Iwata) Dixie art is great.  I ordered several items from them in the past.
