I was at our model club meeting at Hobby Annex here in Dallas yesterday, and Jim Fredd, one of the employees there, was giving a demonstration on airbrush cleaning. He used a jewelry cleaner as a heavy cleaning for the whole brush, disassembled first. Apparently he's been doing this for a long time with no troubles.

I know when he put the public use shop brush in, after a minute clouds of paint started coming out of the front end.

And he said he normally only leaves anything in it for 5 to 30 minutes, but not usually anywhere near the 30.

He's JimF at Armorama for any questions.

I would be interested in your results. I have placed the tips in an ultrasonic with out problems, but not the whole brush. dan

I would proceed with extreme caution.

We had one at work and once I dropped some Phoenix Phollies 80MM figures in to clean paint off them that I did not like.

I left them ther for an hour or so and came back to find them horribly pitted.  In those days, to me they were unusable (now I could repair the damage).

Also, the waves could cuase some matter to become dislodged and potentially move into cavities or passageways where it may not be easily cleaned back out.  Airbrushes have machines passages and machined surfaces that may be dislodged by the action.  Again, I would proceedd with caution and not simply toss it in and walk away for a few hours.

I would definitely think so. If you can clean glasses, spectacles and contact lenses in an ultrasonic cleaner, why not Aztek? As far as I know, there is nothing more brittle in airbrush than in spectacles.

You can't clean, say, perls in ultrasonic cleaner, due to the material of that precious stone, but Aztek isn't made of similar material.

However, keep in mind, that I don't own Aztek and never tried it on my own. Try first to clean something similar, if you are in doubt.

Do you think I can clean the body of the AB in an Ultrasonic cleaner without any harm coming to the AB?
