Krylon's Old Caterpillar Yellow is labeled as an Industrial Enamel.  Typically, I use Testor's small spray cans (primer and color) with as much success as you'd expect.  To be honest, I think they look fine, as I weather all of my rigs,  but I'm aware that an air brush would yield considerably better results.  I do have an air brush (its cheap) that I purchased from a hobby store back in the early eighties.  I grew frustrated with the process (mixing/thinning/cleaning) long before I became proficient.  When asked, Testors replied that their closest match was "Bug Yellow" and as irony would have it, Krylon informed me that OCY was out of production, yet I found it everywhere on the net.  Will a company such as Duron or Sherwin Williams mix a small batch of paint and are they able to use a code to reproduce something like OCY?  Again, your time and experience are greatly appreciated.

Go buy a piece of styrene and test it. You should prime the model first. Make sure the primer is compleatly dry before you spray the Krylon. The only other issue you should test, generally I always stick with model paint, because the pigment is sized to scale. Just because the Cat yellow will look right on a full size bullbozer, this does not mean that it will look right on a model that is 1/25th the size.

Use a primer like Tamiya to be safe. Is the Krylon you got a lacquer? Do you have an airbrush, or will you use it out of the spray can?

If you could give us some more info, I'm sure we can find a solutoin.

Just purchased an AMT/Ertl Caterpillar D8H.  I was able to locate "Old Caterpillar Yellow" through Krylon.  My fear is that this paint will damage my plastic model.  I've been model building since childhood and have an understanding of the basics with much room to learn, so any suggestions or hints are greatly welcomed.
