Stupid Lacquer question

Ok guys, I bet this has been asked a thousand times, but is it that lacquer can't go over other paints or visa versa? And do I have to prime for lacquer?

NOT a stupid question.  It is best to use a barrier between the paint and the plastic.  Floquil Barrier is especially made for this purpose.  You can find Floquil paints in the model RR section of your hobby shop.  DO NOT USE lacquers over enamels or acrylics, although enamels and acrylics can be used on top of lacquers.  DO NOT USE enamels over acrylics, although enamels can go over lacquers and enamels of the same mfgr.  Acrylics can go over both lacquers and enamels without any problems.  I only prime when I'm airbrushing over metals.  This aids in adherence

Hope this helps!Smile [:)]
