You should always put a Primer on, I use Dark Aircraft Grey.

On the bench:

1/35 Tamiya M26 Pershing-0%

1/144 Minicraft P-38J Lightning-50%

Numerous 1/35 scale figures in various stages if completion.

I had the same trouble on a Fujimi BAe Red Arrow Hawk that was molded in red (old kit). Finally decided to paint it white all over and then mask the arrows. So I think your suggestion is a good one.

I always prime, anyway because it makes imperfections pop out. Sanding and filling over primer is less frustrating than thinking you're almost done, and finding out how far you really are from finished!

Ross Martinek A little strangeness, now and then, is a good thing… Wink

Painting Technique question.
Posted by WARMAN_316 on Friday, May 18, 2007 2:04 PM

I am currently working on a CF-105 Avro Arrow. I have got it to the painting stage and have ran into a little holdup. When I started to spray on the white I began to notice that I am not able to keep track of the paint coverage (since the base plastic is white itself).

So I was just wondering if I should spray a light undercoat of grey or something so I can see where I am when it comes to the white top-coat.

What advice do you guys have?
