Since the tip is smaller, the medium regulator won't be as close around the tip, letting more air through a larger area. It'll end up spraying a very wide, low pressure pattern. I wouldn't recommend it.

question about badger 150 needle and tip
Posted by roosterpelo on Friday, June 29, 2007 12:46 AM

hi everyone, i damaged my needle on my airbrush the other day while cleaning, and my LHS was out of medium needles. so my thoughts were i could use my back-up AB for medium applications, and i would change my badger to a fine needle and tip. i changed out the needle and the tip in the head into a fine tip. now i haven't changed the regulator to fine. is it still going to work properly with a fine tip and needle, with a medium regulator? i tried it out once, and it appeared to not work as great, but i thought that maybe because i'm not used to it yet, and my paint wasn't thinned enough for the fine tip. any help would be great.
