I have used everything on the market that I can get here in the US. I will take the old large bottles of alclad any day of the week over anything produced now. Too bad its not made anymore, but for the next in line, it would be the new formula Alclad in the smaller bottles. Its tough enough to stand up to masking with a safe release tape. I have had horriffic results with all of the acrylic mettalics, and fair to middling results with all of the buffing and non buffing metallizers. If you prepare youre surface properly SNJ with polishing powder is good, and makes agreat chrome effect over gloss black enamel, plus the liquid can be tinted with gloss enamels. But, for what all I do now, it's Alclad over a gloss black acrylic base; I rarely reach for MM unless it is burnt metal or titanium.
Now, with all this being said, you need to realize that a good NMF finish is 99.5% prep work on the plastic. There have been many articles in FSM magazine (going back to '86 with the B36 on the cover) and dozens of articles online, so I won't recount that here. NMF starts with the investment of proper prep and finishes with solid application of a good product :-)
