Hey! Don't know if you know this but don't forget to let your cans sit in a bowl of warm water before using. This allows a smoother spray and less sputtering. Remeber, lots of quick passes and keep a good distance. Good luck you brave soul!!
I love the smell of super glue in the morning. Smells like...victory.

Thanks, that was a tremendous help, for the most part I never follow the color guide for my model kits.  If I see a color I like, then I plan on using it.  I hope to see more coverage in Fine Scale magazine on using spray paint cans.  It seems like it's a taboo to use it.  If you find anything more on using spray can please let me know, it would be greatly appreicated!

Most certainly.  Always test on a scrap piece first before using a new (to you) paint, but many hardware store spray paints can be used on plastic & resin models.    Remember to go slow -- several light coats are better than one thick one.

You may find it interesting that Testors paint is (or was) owned by the same company as Rustoleum paint, RPM Industies.

Don't limit yourself to only buying hobby supplies with a model manufacturer's logo.  You will find a broad supply of material, often at a significant price differential.

Can you use the spray paint found in hardware stores for model kits?  Will that work?  Seems like there are more options at the hardware store than the hobby stores.

Thanks again for any feedback!

Sure,  American Tradition Red Primer from Lowes Hardware store is a dead-on match for US Navy hull red.   I use that (either straight out of the can or decanted into my airbrush) to paint the hulls of my ships,  WWI through modern.
