In absence of model paints-which is best? wargaming or artist paint?

Well my parents are pretty buisy for awhile and I don't want the inability to drive to a a hobby shop to purchase paint stop me from modelling.  So, I can bike downtown in about half an hour, and we have an artist shop--she standard pastels oil paints in tubes-picture frames, canvas--that kind of shop--or a wargaming shop that I've been in briefly once or twice but never looked at their paint supplies. So which would have better paints for airbrushing?  I'm guessing that the artists paints aren't what I'm looknig for, so my questions is more about if wargaming paints "Reaper miniatures and Games workshops" are the two I've heard of, are good for painting.  The thing I'm wondering about is most wargamnig paints are meant to be brushed on small figuers, so I don't know how well you can thin them for airbrushing.  Anyone know?  Thanks, Ian

Games Workshop acrylics airbrush very, VERY well.  I've used them quite and have always had very good results from them.

Well, either you can mail-order from any of the on-line hobby dealers, or you can ask your war gaming shop to special-order some for you, as one major source for wargamer shops is in fact "Squadron-dot.com".

I get mine to special order stuff all the time, as my typical LHS can't seem to handle tracking back-orders as the gamer shop can.

Also, like MC, I also use their latex paints when there color is correct, as my local gamers shop has a slate grey that is identical to the WWII USN PAC upper color.

Thanks guys, I'll check it out tomorow, and even if they don't ahve what I nedd I desperately need new brushes, and I want to try some raw umber artist oils that I hear so much about from the art shop, so it won't be a wasted trip.
