Directly from the paint bottle?
Posted by mitsdude on Sunday, July 29, 2007 4:05 AM

It would be nice if the companies that make model paint, Tamiya, Testors, etc, would size the top of the bottles so that it would fit the lid that goes  into an airbrush. It would be less wasteful and require less cleaning.

Does anyone make an "adapter" lid so something like the above can be done?

I seem to remember seeing some craft paint acrylics that advertised their bottle fit directly onto the airbrush.

Since I only use MM enamels I can only speak form experinece regarding that product... but there is not 1 of the maybe 100 bottles of paint on my shelf that I can spray from the bottle without thinning.  And I would nevr consider thinning a whole bottle at once.

Model Master Acryl paint is designed to be sprayed directly from the bottom.  Plus their bottles fit the siphon cap of the Aztek line of airbrushes.

The only color I can think of in the MM range that may be thin enough to spray as is is Cockpit Black. Thier other colors, espcially blues and all the greys/greens need considerable thinning.

I also find that each time I dont strain my paint through a filter (pantyhose cut to fit my mixing cup) I get either chunks blown onto my surface or a clogged Iwata.

You might also want to look at This Post (which coincidently was right beneath yours) and asks basically the same question.
