Posted by ipms40049 on Friday, August 3, 2007 12:58 PM

Ive tried the other message boards but no one has answered me, LOL.. but a few months ago, i dismantled my hobby room (supposedely making a entertainment room), but i took my spray booth down, vent etc etc.. now im setting back up a small modeling table but i need some advice on where to airbrush. Outside or the garage is out of the question cause the humidity here is like 80% !! id like to do it in this same room but any suggestions from you all? i have three windows in here.

Or where do you all airbrush?

any advice would/suggestions would be appreciated.

Try this: Tape a furnace filter to the back side of a box fan.  Put the box fan in the window so that's blowing outside. Airbrush directly infront of the fan.  This should vent most of the fumes outsides.  The furnace filter will catch most of the overspray.  You might want to wear a respirator too.  Also, you might want run the fan a few minutes to get any airborne dust out of the room first.

You could extend that box fan by attaching a box to form a impromptu paint booth. That way you won't have to worry about overspray getting places you don't want it to go. Set a couple of floor lamps on each side of you for light. The whole thing can be taken down and stored in a closet or out in the garage. Replace the box and filter from time to time.

I made a down draft paint station out of a box fan, filter and corrogated paper to do demos at shows or events. Once done, I just toss everything but the fan in the trash. Less to carry home. The only tools to make it is tape and a utility knife.
